Vietnam Post Corporation was established based on the implementation of the Pilot Project to form the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT Group) approved by the Prime Minister under Decision No. 58/2005/QD-TTg dated March 23, 2005.
- On June 1, 2007, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 674/QD-TTg approving the Project to establish Vietnam Post Corporation. Pursuant to this, Vietnam Post is a state-owned corporation established by the State, specializing in postal services, operating with independent economic accounting. Its capital was allocated by the State through VNPT Group. The Board of Members of the VNPT Group serves as the representative of state ownership in Vietnam Post and acts as its Board of Members. Pursuant to Decision No. 674/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, on June 15, 2007, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (later known as the Ministry of Information and Communications) issued Decision No. 16/2007/QD-TCCB-BBCVT on the establishment of Vietnam Post Corporation.
- On November 16, 2012, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1746/QD-TTg on transferring the state ownership representation of Vietnam Post Corporation from VNPT Group to the Ministry of Information and Communications. Vietnam Post was renamed Vietnam Post Corporation (pursuant to Decision No. 2596/QD-BTTTT dated December 28, 2012, issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications).
- On January 6, 2015, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 09/QD-BTTTT on the reorganization of the Vietnam Post – the parent company. Pursuant to this, the organizational and management structure of Vietnam Post consists of a Board of Members and a Board of Directors, in compliance with Decree No. 69/2014/ND-CP of the Government. By that time, the management and operational structure of Vietnam Post under the new model has been fully completed.
The organizational structure of Vietnam Post consists of 86 dependent accounting units (including 63 Provincial post offices; 17 Central post offices; the National Press Distribution Company, VN Post Logistics, Postage Stamp Company, Vietnam Post Logistics Company, Vietnam Post Training Center) and 01 wholly-owned limited liability company by Vietnam Post.

A system of over 14,000 service points, with an average service radius of 2.67 km per point ensuring each commune has at least one service point serving 6,259 people in average.

- Level 2 Mail Network: 714 mail routes which facilitate transportation between provincial and district-level hubs.
- Level 3 Mail Network: nearly 5,700 mail routes.

8. MAIN BUSINESS CATEGORY
(1) Establish, manage, operate, and develop the public postal network providing public postal services in accordance with the strategies, plans, and regulations approved by the relevant authorities.
(2) Operate reserved postal services as stipulated by the relevant authorities.
(3) Conduct business in postal services, press distribution, and domestic and international courier services.
(4) Participate in international postal service activities and other services within the framework of international postal treaties to which Vietnam is a signatory or member upon approval by the State.
(5) Engage in other business sectors and professions in accordance with legal regulations.
In parallel with effectively fulfilling public service obligations, Vietnam Post expands its business activities to meet the demand for high-quality courier services, supporting e-commerce and logistics.
Vietnam Post also promotes comprehensive cooperation with major banks and credit institutions in Vietnam to advance and provide services such as credit, savings, payment services, bill collection, disbursement, and money transfers, serving a wide range of customers, particularly in rural areas, remote regions, mountainous areas, and islands. The distribution and media business services have been expanded to maximize the utilization of Vietnam Post’s extensive network infrastructure. Notably, Vietnam Post has been entrusted with the task of providing public administrative services nationwide.
9. COMMUNITY ACTIVIVES
Vietnam Post as the national postal enterprise, is tasked with maintaining and managing the public postal network across the entire territory of Vietnam, contributing to socio-economic development, poverty alleviation, and disaster mitigation. In addition, Vietnam Post demonstrates significant commitment and responsibility to the community through various initiatives, such as supporting the Fund for the Poor, the Golden Heart Fund, the Gratitude Fund, and the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund. Vietnam Post actively supports activities related to Vietnam’s seas and islands, facilitates the transportation of relief goods for communities facing hardships due to floods and storms, provides care for wounded soldiers and Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and collaborates in programs to support people in business ventures to escape poverty.
10. COOPERATION
Currently, Vietnam Post is a member of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) and maintains cooperative relationships with postal services of most countries worldwide. Additionally, Vietnam Post is a partner of numerous major domestic and international corporations and credit institutions, including Vingroup, TH, BRG, FPT, Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, Daiichi Life, LPBank, MB, Western Union....
