According to this, the national postcode includes 5 digit numbers assigned to communes, wards and equivalent units; postal service points in the public postal network; postal service points and service subjects of the postal network in service of the Party's and the State's organs; Foreign diplomatic missions, consulates, and representative offices of international organizations in Vietnam.

Vice President Chu Thi Lan Huong said that the application of postcode for sending mail, items would help the operation, sorting more conveniently and faster.

Ms. Chu Thi Lan Huong, Vice President of Vietnam Post said that one of the key steps in postal production which was the exact and quick operation, sorting and delivery should be paid attention.

It can be said that the postcode is the basis of the application of automatic technology in operation and sorting at the mail sorting centers. Without the code, the use of automatic sorting devices would be ineffective due to the fact that many workers are still required to distribute the directions of the items at delivery addresses.
