Vietnam attended the Conference on regulation and the annual Council of Administration

The CA-UPU is the annual meeting of UPU to implement resolutions of Istanbul Congress, focusing on key matters such as UPU reform, management restructure of International Bureau (IB), implementation of Istanbul business strategy and UPU action program in 2018.

During the time, UPU held the Conference on regulation on 26 October 2017 with the topic “E-commerce and regulation: A paradigm shift for the postal sector”. The meeting discussed on the policy of e-commerce management, postal management and the framework of policy on integration of postal services with e-commerce services, policy on e-commerce management. The conference attracted many delegates regarding supply chain of e-commerce such as policy deciders, designated postal operators, postal partners: customs, transportation, international customer association…

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications headed the Vietnam delegation with some functional departments of Ministry of Information and Communications and Vietnam Post Corporation to attend the annual CA meeting. The Vietnam delegation researched documents and discussed at 3 sessions on E-commerce management: domestic management and experiences as member countries in order to exchange experiences and expect UPU to give a general postal model for management of e-commerce.

Besides the meeting, the Vietnam delegation had bilateral meeting with Mr. Hussein A. Bisha, Director General of UPU. Mr. Hussein A. Bisha appreciated the participation of Vietnam in general activities of UPU and CA. He had good impression when he visited Vietnam at the first time in 2013 and promised to facilitate Vietnam in the UPU programs of technical support for low developed and developing countries. On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hong invited Director General of UPU to visit Vietnam in 2018 to attend the APPU EC in Da Nang, Vietnam in 2018 and Mr. Hussein A. Bisha was very glad to accept the invitation.

The delegation visited also Vietnam Embassy in Bern, Switzerland and met Mr. Pham Hai Bang, Ambassador of Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Switzerland.
