Vietnam Post promotes the co-operation relationship with UPU member countries

At the Forum, delegates focused on 04 major panels: the Role of Posts to cope with global dynamics, Understanding customer’s needs, Public services and profitability, Surving or thriving: are Posts meeting expectations? In these panels, Vietnam Post has actively discussed and shared experiences with member countries taking part in the Forum on the hot issues which directly affected postal Business, such as:  The number of migrants and refugees worldwide is expected to rise to yet another historic level, resulting in a greater need for remittances and greater opportunities for postal business; Young people now constitute a record 1.8 billion of the world’s population, changing the Post’s customer base.  The postal sector therefore needs to rethink its role in order to remain relevant in the face of not only a changing world, but changing consumption trend; To support the socio-economic development of countries, governments mandate designated operators to provide postal services to all segments of the population. As a natural extension, designated operators become the cornerstone of governmental infrastructure for citizen outreach. Through initiatives such as e-government, health support and senior citizen support, the Posts have showcased their role as key governmental partners for development… Besides, panellists also discussed on the status quo, analyzing how Posts are endeavouring to meet the expectations of their stakeholders. They would then explore the differentials that set each postal designated operator apart from other market players

President & CEO Pham Anh Tuan and members of Vietnam Post’s Delegation have also had a meeting with the Director General of the UPU, Mr. Bishar A. Hussein to discuss on: stratergies for postal development; the UPU’s supporting policies for member countries, especially for ASEAN countries and Asia-Pacific countries; trends and impacts of E-commcerce towards postal operators; the UPU’s projects that could support Vietnam Post. The General Director of UPU highly appreciated the success achieved by Vietnam Post so far, particularly its active participation in Committees and working groups of CA/POC, as well as the UPU’s general activities. He then affrimed to continue his special concern in suporting Projects for Vietnam in the future.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Vietnam Post also held bilateral meetings with member countries of the UPU, including: Kazakhstan, Thailand, Laos and Myanmar to exchange solutions to the enhancement of postal services’ volume, co-operation to develop new services generating mutual benefits and to support employee training, officers exchange on stratergy, services business…

 

At the same time in Russia, on 20th September 2017, Vietnam Post’s Delegation visited and took the meeting with Russian Post at its head office. This was an activity to implement the results of the official visit to Russian Federation by the President of Vietnamese Government Tran Dai Quang in the late of June and in the early of July in order to promote the relationship between two countries in many economics fields including postal sector. At the meeting, the two sides has informed about the business and production situation of each side and exchanged the cooperation potential in the near future. Leaders of two sides assumed that according to the efectiveness of the Free Trade Agreement between Eurasian Economic Union (EAEC) and Vietnam since October 2016, it would open many potential opportunities for postal sector. The two sides would together search for solutions to promote the volume of traditional postal services, at the same time, the two parties would cooperate to develop the business in E-commerce to meet customer’s demand in the digital age nowaday. The two sides also shared experiences in management, postal operation, development stratergic determination in the context of the explotion of E-commerce digital informatics technologies worldwide.

Vietnam Post’s Delegation also visited and took the meeting with Vietnamese Embassy in Russian Federation. H.E. Abassador Nguyen Thanh Son has receipted and met with Vietnam Post’s Delegation. H.E. Ambassador shared about the sublimated relationship between Vietnam – Russia in many economic fields would help to create opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises, especially for postal sector. H.E. Ambassador expected the two Posts would continue to gain more practical cooperation projects bringing economic growth for the two countries in general and for the two Posts in particular. H.E. Ambassador affirmed his role as a connecting bridge to promote the relationship between two countries and two Posts in the future. Closing the meeting, President & CEO Pham Anh Tuan gave H.E. Ambassador Nguyen Thanh Son a stamp montage with the picture of President Ho Chi Minh “He sat there with a red pencil, drawing the way every step, every hour” as a meaningful present from Vietnam Post to the Vietnamese Embassy in the Russian Federarion.
