Vietnam Post will complete assigning codes to all addresses by June 2020

Appointed as the leader of project "Vietnam Digital Map Database Platform" in the national project "Development of Digital Knowledge System", Vietnam Post, with its strength of large network, within 3 months (from January to March 2019), collected address database with over 23 million locations nationwide and launched the Phase 1 of Vietnam Digital Map - Vmap. In the next phase, Vietnam Post will develop an eco-system of functions and services basing on V-map and address database system. Each address has one unique corresponding code. This address code carries a combination of information of individuals, busineses; administrative geography and address location on Vmap. Vietnam Post is setting up a system of detailed address codes assigned to all addresses in the following steps: Standardize addresses and address data; Build address database; Manage and enrich the address database on the digital mapping platform.

This system of address code will help regulators and local authorities to manage households. In the meanwhile, the individuals and busineses also have opportunities to understand and exploit the real address database. Accordingly, service quality of post and delivery businesses, carriers, logistics and e-commerce providers and customers can be improved by increasing success rate, reducing return rate, improving operation efficiency and create more opportunities to develop value-added services.

In addition to the objectives to serve the community, Vmap platform also provides the society with many specific levels of information to meet the people’s needs such as information on food safety facilities, health care clinics, pharmacies, institutions nationwide, humanitarian addresses, tourist and accomdation facilities. Environmental, agricultural and nutritional information… will also be added to complete Vmap in 2020.

Vietnam Post will complete address code system assigning detailed code to each address nationwide by 1^st June 2020. At that time, Vietnam Post will announce its Vmap products in the Phase 2 and offer mapping and addressing services to all individuals and businesses.
