Propaganda for disaster prevention and control, and disaster consequences recovery via postal system

Chairman of the BoM Pham Anh Tuan and Director General Tran Quang Hoai signed a Cooperation Agreement between Vietnam Post and Vietnam Disaster Management Authority

The two Parties will develop a cooperation program based on each Party’s annual plan and specific action in each cooperation work; cooperate to develop an information and communication program on disaster prevention on the basis of taking full advantages of Vietnam Post in each Party’s event, conference, workshop and on mass media. In addition, Vietnam Disaster Management Authority will prioritize the use of services and products with advantages of Vietnam Post during its operation and management of disaster prevention and response in compliance with the Law’s regulations; Cooperate to develop, carry out information and propaganda activities for disaster prevention through postal services and network system and on other communication channel which is a strong point of Vietnam Post.

At the same time, two Parties will coordinate with each other to exchange information, develop communication printed matters to raise awareness of people on disaster prevention on the basis of promoting the advantages of Vietnam Post. Vietnam Disaster Management Authority will also consider the use of Vietnam Post’s services, such as: public administration services, domestic and international postal delivery services, designing and production services for Tet’s holiday printed matters, flower and gift delivery services, life and non-life insurance, money saving services, consumer loan for civil servants, officials and employers. In which, the two Parties will prioritize to focus on the deployment of propaganda service and non-life insurance service (insurance for disaster prevention infrastructures, namely, dyke, dam, embankment…)

Especially, Vietnam Disaster Management Authority will coordinate with Vietnam Post to develop and submit programs, projects on risk insurance for people, particularly the people living in provinces/cities that are frequently impacted by natural disasters (flooding, storm, landslide, flash flood, drought..), contributing to increase the effect of disaster recovery and ensure the living of people after natural disaster.

In the coming time, Vietnam Post will enhance its cooperation with Vietnam Disaster Management Authority to develop, deploy information and propaganda activities on knowledge dissemination, natural disaster prevention and response skills via postal services and network system and on other communication channels which are Vietnam Post’ advantage such as: Led screen system, propaganda board, poster, magazine, guide-book, broadcast loudspeaker system, envelop, postal stamp, training course on education and propaganda… Support Vietnam Disaster Management Authority to conduct research, statistics survey activities in terms of risk assessment for natural disaster via Post Offices system across the country. In addition, Vietnam Post will also prioritize to provide postal delivery service, newspaper distribution, printed matter printing, stamp souvenir, insurance service and other services of Vietnam Post with incentive policy based on the comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam Disaster Management Authority; Coordinate with the Authority in the printing and issuance of printed matters, documents for communication on natural disaster prevention in compliance with specific agreements.
