Vietnam attended the 12th Asian-Pacific Postal Union Congress

The Vietnam delegation attended the 12th APPU Congress.

At the 12th APPU Congress, Post members discussed the renovation and quality enhancement of APPU activities, trend and policy of developing postal, opportunities and challenges in e-commerce business.

In the frame of the Congress, there were also many discussions of Working Groups with a view to increase cooperation in the region and give general proposals and resolutions regarding cooperation in the UPU. 

Bilateral meeting between Vice Minister Nguyen Minh Hong and Deputy Minister and Chairman & CEO Iran Post Hossein Mehri

Besides the Congress, Vice Minister Nguyen Minh Hong had a bilateral meeting with Deputy Minister and Chairman & CEO Iran Post. They discussed the cooperative contents in MOU signed in September 2016 on information and communications between the Ministry of Information and Communication of Social Republic of Vietnam and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Islamic Republic of Iran, and abilities to realize specific cooperative issues, especially in postal fields.

President & CEO Pham Anh Tuan signed MOU with representative leaders of Iran Post and Iran Post Bank.

After the high level meeting between Vice Minister Nguyen Minh Hong and Deputy Minister Hossein Mehri, Viernam Post, Iran Post and Iran Post Bank signed the tripartite MOU on cooperation on exchanging experiences and technology, enhancing the volume exchange of letter post and parcel, joint stamp issuance and money order transfer between two countries through the IFS UPU.

On this occasion, Vice Minister Nguyen Minh Hong had also meetings with Mr. Bishar Hussein, Director General of UPU, Mr. Lin Hong Liang, Secretary-General of APPU. He discussed the participation of Vietnam in cooperative projects and the renovation as well as the improvement of UPU and APPU’s activities. Director General of UPU and Secretary-General APPU appreciated highly the effective support and participation of Vietnam.

APPU consists of 32 members in Asian Pacific. Congress is the highest organ of the Union and was held every 4 years with a view to consider and discuss important APPU’s issues. The 13th APPU will be held in 2011 in Thailand.
