Vietnamese pupil won the Third prize of the 47th UPU Letter Writing Competition

H.E. Mr. Pascal Clivaz, Deputy Director General of the International Bureau – UPU gave the First prize to Chara Phoka (Republic of Cyprus)

The 47^th UPU Letter Writing Competition (2018) with the topic: “Imagine you are a letter travelling through time. What message do you wish to convey to your readers?” has ended with a very high quality of letters sent. The Organization of the competition found it very difficult to find out the First prize, Second prize, Third prize and 05 special mentions prizes.  

The letter won the national First prize written by pupil Nguyen Thi Bach Duong – from class 8A (school year 2017 – 2018), Junior High School Nguyen Trai, Nam Sach, Hai Duong has won the international Third prize.

At the Awarding ceremony, pupil Chara Phoka (Republic of Cyprus) was invited to the UPU head office in Bern, Switzerland to collect the First prize – Gold medal of the competition. H.E. Mr. Pham Hai Bang, the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Communist Republic of Vietnam in Switzerland, on behalf of Vietnam has come to receive the Third prize – Bronze medal of the competition. This is the first time the UPU International Bureau invites representatives of winning countries of the Second prize and Third prize to come with the winner of First prize of the competition.

On 12^th October 2018, at Junior High School Dang Thai Mai, Vinh city, Ngha An province, the national Organization held the Launching ceremony of the 48^th Letter Writing Competition (2019) and awarded the Third prize of the 47^th Letter Writing Competition (2018). The Organization also awarded the Certificates of merit of the Ministry of Education & Training, Ho Chi Minh Central Communist Youth Union and the award of the national Organization for the winner of the international Third prize.
